Special Guest: Shuntaro Tanikawa
Born on 1931, Poet.
He has written his debut collection “Alone in Two Billion Light-Years” in 1952. He has been awarded numerous prizes including; the Songwriting Prize of the 4th Japan Record Awards by “Getsu Ka Sui Moku Kin Do Nichi no Uta” (1962), the Japan Translation and Publishment Prize by “The Rhymes of Mother Goose” (1975), the 34th Yomiuri Prize by “Hibi no Chizu” (1982), the 1st Ogihara Sakutarou Prize by “Seken Shirazu” (1993), the 1st Ayukawa Nobuo Prize by “Tromso Collage” (2010). Aside of poetry, he has introduced a wide range of work including picture books, essays, translations, scripts, lyrics.
Recently, he is challenging to open up the further possibility of poetry by using methods as “Tanikawa (mountain stream)” (an iPhone application to fish poems), “Poemail” (sending poetry by postal mail) and so on.
Compose/Conduct: Ko Matsushita
Born on 1962 in Tokyo, Composer, Choral Conductor. Graduated summa cum laude from Kunitachi College of Music, Department of Composition, and finished the Chorus Conductor master course at Kodály Institute (Hungary).
He is composing various range of works with Choral Music as the center of it, those being performed not only in Japan but all around the world, also published in and outside of Japan. Currently, a solo exhibition of his music has been held in Japan, Poland, Shenzhen (China) and Taiwan. In Shenzhen, a premier of his Orchestral Work has been held.
Meanwhile, he is conducting 14 choirs of Koyukai as the artistic director. Abroad, he has been a guest conductor for Peking University Student Choir.
Furthermore, he is actively serving as jury in International Chorus Competitions in Europe and Asia, and as a lector in multiple chorus masterclasses and workshops.
In 2005, he became the first Asian to receive the “Robert Edler Prize for Choral Music”. This award is bestowed on the best conductor, composer, or choir for their extraordinary endeavors throughout that year around the globe.
In July 2014 (Croatia), he will conduct the World Youth Choir, which is a choir consisted by talented young singers from all over the world, patronised by the International Federation for Choral Music.
